Couldn't be more ideal!
Perfect Moonlight Beach location and house. Our family of 18 people (age 9 to 82) experienced a fantastic week-long reunion at this updated home. Fourteen slept in the house and four stayed with friends nearby. The lower level's smaller three bedrooms and two baths accommodated our children and grandchildren comfortably. These rooms (the bunkroom had no window) catch few ocean breezes so using the fans provided was necessary. The separate apartment on the lower level provided a private and quiet haven for my husband's older siblings. The two master bedroom suites on the second level that connected to the open concept living/dining/kitchen area were lovely. The larger MBR had a spacious bath with a slipper tub and separate shower. A comfortable chair(s) for reading quietly away from the group could be added. The smaller oceanfront MBR and bath adjoined the deck, overlooked the garden and enjoyed ocean breezes and sounds. Best of all the private parking area (four cars fit) and street were separated by a garage, fence and trees from the house, lawn and garden. This provided a quiet and safe place for the children to play and sleep outdoors in a pop up tent. The BBQ, a sofa under the deck and a hammock provided quiet places for relaxing. One suggestion would be to add a simple outdoor shower where everyone could shower off the sand. There was a hose for that purpose but it's less effective. From the deck we could watch the grandchildren and their parents playing on the beach, in the ocean and in the garden. We gathered each night for dinner together and found the kitchen offered all we needed to cook full meals although more dinner plates and larger pots would have been helpful. It also was handy to have a second refrigerator in the apartment to accommodate larger pots and pizza boxes. While Moonlight Beach--a block away-was the highlight, Encinitas had some terrific restaurants, shops and neighborhoods within walking distance and great hiking could be found at the San Diego Botanical Garden, Annie's Canyon and at Torrey Pines State Park. The Coaster train (6 blocks from house) took some of us to the Padres game, the zoo, and Old Town San Diego, which was a fun adventure in itself. The Amtrak train also stops at the Encinitas Coaster Station and several took it to Los Angeles at the end of our week. All together a perfect vacation and location. We agreed this home was a keeper for any future reunions. We will return!

Great for our large family
Our family of 14 (2 grandparents, 2 adult children & spouses, and 8 grandchildren ages 7-20), all fit into this lovely home perfectly. There's a large great room with plenty of seating for everyone; a large, extremely well-stocked kitchen (only missing a blender), plenty of seating for everyone to eat, lots of large windows for cross ventilation from ocean breezes plus ceiling fans in every room except in the bunk room. It also has the most comfortable beds we've ever had in 30 years of renting vacation homes. It's also well stocked with beach umbrellas and sand toys. It could use more beach chairs and beach towels. The proximity to the beach is fantastic plus they supply a wagon to haul all your gear. Moonlight beach is gorgeous with fine white sand. It is crowded however. The best part is you don't have to climb up and down stairs to access it. It's also a short walk to the Coast Hwy and MANY quaint and delicious restaurants. We walked to all of them, even with the seniors and littles. Don't forget to try Handel's Ice Cream. Go early to avoid the lines and to try to look at their 50 flavors of great ice cream.

Paradise found!
The only reason I gave 5 stars is that 6 stars was not available! The property was exactly as described. Just a walk across the street to a fantastic beach. The beach was crowded on the weekends, but a lot less people on a weekday, of course. It was so close to the beach I actually saw dolphins from the upstairs patio. The property was very clean and the outside area, though small, was so private nobody could see in. I had planned to take the beach view suite and let the rest of the family fight over the remaining rooms, but I found the bungalow was so nice and quiet my wife and I stayed there. My family had only praises about the bedrooms they stayed in, the main areas of the house, patio areas, beach, location - everything! In fact, they all wanted me to find the money to buy the place so we could live permanently in paradise. We did meet Rebecca, the owner, on the last day and she was absolutely a delight. She wanted to make sure our stay was nice, but she only stayed a couple minutes. Never was hovering around watching over the property. We really felt as if we owned the place for the days we were there. Although it is a bit pricey, it was priced much the same as any other southern California beach property. But this place delivered. Will we come back? Definitely! Thank you Rebercca.

The perfect house for our family reunion
This house was the perfect house for my family and extended family. It is a beautiful home that comfortably accommodated 16 people. You are so close to the beach and to shops and restaurants, but at the same time very private. It's very clean and tastefully decorated for a beach house. I will definitely be back!

We loved every moment of our stay. Beautiful, comfortable well kept home. Everything as advertised.
We would certainly stay here again. There were 7 adults and 4 children and it suited everyone's needs. Gorgeous view of the ocean. Kitchen was well equipped.

Gorgeous home next to the beach!
What a fantastic treat to stay at this house. It is so beautifully decorated and feels luxurious in every way! Great yard, nice view, amazing open room for a large group and so fun to be so close to the beach. Rebecca was so nice and easy to work and communicate with. This place is a bit pricey but worth it!! We hope to be back!
